Scope
The European Conference of Defence and the Environment (ECDE) is Europe’s premier conference on the environmental impacts of military operations, live-fire training on military training lands and management of environmentally hazardous substances.

We have invited experts in their field from throughout Europe and North America to present their latest research and development at this conference. The conference provides a discussion forum for all stakeholder groups including policy and decision makers, military personnel, subject matter experts, authorities and academics.

The ECDE of 2019 aims to highlight a wide range of areas such as:
• Chemicals & Compliance
• Biodiversity & Noise Management
• Climate
• Energy
• International Operations
• Green Procurement

Date
May 14th-16th, 2019
Registration and icebreaker are scheduled for the evening May 14th and the conference will commence at 09.00 hrs on May 15th

Venue
The conference will take place at the Swedish Defence University (Försvarshögskolan) in the City centre of Stockholm.

Conference Fee
The conference fee is set to 3 300 SEK (including 25% VAT). The conference fee includes admission to the conference venue, lunches and coffee, icebreaker and conference dinner. The Dinner will be held at Karlberg Castle, busses will go back and forth the dinner from the hotels.

Participation
If you wish to attend the conference, please go to Registration on this website in order to fill in the registrationform and confirm your attendance. Please note that the seats are limited and participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible to secure their attendance. Registration is binding once the registration form has been completed and the conference fee is non-refundable. Registration will be open until March 15th 2019. Please note that you need to get a confirmation that the registration went through the system, if you do not receive an automatic confirmation via email please contact us to get an confirmation if the registration was successful or not.

Request for visit (RFV)
Diplomatic clearance is required for the admission into military units. The “Request for visit” form is available through the registration website.

Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in the conference fee. Hotel arrangements need to be managed by each participant. A list of recommended hotels can be found below. Booking codes for the recommended hotels are aslo available through the registration website.

Icebreaker
An icebreaker will be organized on May 14th at 5 p.m. at the Swedish Defence University. A selection of snacks and drinks will be served. Participants are requested to pick up their conference badge at the front desk upon arrival.

Conference dinner
A conference dinner will be held at Karlberg Palace on May 15th. The palace was originally built in 1630 and houses today the Military Academy Karlberg.

Dress code
Business casual is recommended for the entire conference and all social events. No military uniforms allowed.

Should you wish to present
Presentation slots will be available upon request. If you wish to give a presentation during the conference please contact the ecde2019@wips.mil.se. Presentations will be limited to 20 minutes with an additional 10 minutes for questions. All presenters will be requested to submit a short abstract in advance. The organizing committee will evaluate all abstracts with the proviso to reject presentations that is out of the scope of the conference.
